Airmega Mighty Won't Turn On? How to Fix a Missing Front Panel MagnetUpdated 3 days ago
If your Coway Airmega Mighty suddenly refuses to power on, especially after you've just cleaned it or changed the filters, a tiny, easily overlooked piece might be the culprit.
Here is everything you need to know about the front panel safety magnet and how to get your purifier running again in under two minutes.
Why It Happens: The Safety Sensor
For your safety, Coway air purifiers feature a built-in safety switch. The front cover contains a small, rectangular magnetic insert. When the cover is snapped into place, this magnet aligns with a sensor on the main body of the unit, signaling that the door is safely closed.
If this magnet falls out or gets lost during cleaning, the machine thinks the front panel is wide open and will not turn on.
Can I Get a Replacement Magnet?
Warranty Coverage: Because this piece is typically lost during handling rather than breaking due to a manufacturing defect, it is not covered under the standard warranty.
Spare Parts: Coway does not manufacture or stock this tiny individual magnetic insert as a standalone spare part.
đź’ˇ The Good News: You do not need to purchase an entire replacement front panel. You can easily fix this yourself using items you already have at home.
The Quick DIY Fix
Because the sensor simply looks for a magnetic pull, you can use almost any small, strong household magnet to trick the sensor and restore power.
Step 1: Find a small, strong household magnet (a thick fridge magnet or a small neodymium craft magnet works perfectly).
Step 2: Locate the rectangular slot on the front panel where the original magnet used to sit (or align it directly with the green sensor slot on the main unit housing shown in the image).
Step 3: Place or safely secure your household magnet into that slot area.
Step 4: Reattach the front panel securely.
Once the magnet engages the sensor, your Airmega Mighty will power back on and function perfectly normal.
