Clarification on Replacement Filters: 0.3 Microns vs. 0.01 Microns – What’s the Difference?Updated 2 months ago

The 0.3 micron specification in our manual refers specifically to the performance of the HEPA filter itself. This is the standard rating for HEPA-grade filters, which are tested to capture 99.97% of particles at that size. However, Coway’s air purifiers utilize Hypercaptive™ Filtration Technology, which is an advanced multi-stage filtration system. This system combines pre-filters, activated carbon filters, and HEPA filters, along with additional features that enhance the overall filtration efficiency of the unit.

Through this comprehensive filtration process, the entire unit achieves an efficiency of 99.999% for ultrafine particles as small as 0.01 microns. This means that while the HEPA filter itself is rated for 0.3 microns, while the complete system is designed to capture and remove much smaller particles.
